You could still create and upload videos that are up to 30 minutes long, as long as you adhere to the community guidelines of the platform. Also, TikTok now allows users to connect with their audiences in different ways.

    For instance, you could now open a live stream and connect with your audience for as long as you wish. Also, TikTok implemented a “stories” section, where you can enjoy a similar experience to that on Instagram. Considering this, you could assume that although the minimum limit is 3 seconds, you could enjoy content with much longer durations on the platform.

    Finding the Middle Between Length and Brilliance on TikTok

    Despite the platform offering a minimum length of 3 seconds, this does not mean that you should stick to a certain TikTok length and limit yourself. On the contrary, content can be of various lengths, as each content is likely to appeal to a different audience with different interests and attention spans. Let’s review how long a TikTok should be.

    1.    Pay Attention to Your Audience

    Not every TikTok can be of the same length. You should pay attention to the demands and behaviors of your audience. Pay attention to the likes and follows you are getting concerning the length of your content. For instance, if you are getting more likes in a relatively longer video, it might be a good idea to keep your videos a tad longer for your audience.

    Moreover, you should closely follow the genre of your content to optimize your own. For example, sports content can be a little longer due to commentary or long rallies, but fashion videos are relatively shorter. Hence, you should adapt to the basic requirements of the competitive environment in hopes of finding a place for yourself.

    2.    Follow the Analytics and Metrics

    Being a social media content creator is no longer a simple process of filming a video and letting it air. Instead, you should be closely monitoring certain metrics regarding your content, to have a better understanding of how well your content is doing on TikTok.

    For instance, you could monitor how long people stay on your videos, or how many followers you gain and lose in a single day. You could even see the demographics of your viewers and attempt to finetune your content accordingly. There are numerous social media management tools available for this endeavor, and they can help you pursue a more successful career in social media internationally.
